about
iodo were formed in lincoln during the early stages of 2003 and, over
the course of two self-released albums and numerous eps, have slowly
developed from twee indie-pop minstrels into the unclassifiable
multi-genre noiseniks they are today.
originally conceived as a studio-based experimental project, they took
their unique combination of vocals, guitar, bass, cornet and
laptop-powered beats to the stage after the warm reception of their
debut mini-album, try to be. a more complex and electronically-driven
second album, entitled this is now, followed, quickly succeeded by
walk-on role: ep.
this july they return with a new six track ep containing their
identifiable blend of acoustic instrumentation and electronic beats and
a four-part conceptual song-cycle fuelled by the twin themes of
consumerism and christianity. true love waits: ep sees the quartet
augmented by an extended line-up of drummers, guitarists, saxophonists
and flautists and showcases a groundbreaking stylistic leap from their
previous work.
what they say about iodo:

away the best self-released thing i recieved here at the vp villa in
2005, if not since we started this rag in 2002." - vanity
project magazine
"nastily riff-studded little pop-prats and totally f**king
ace. and clever. probably good-looking too." - unpeeled
magazine

"their willingness to experiment is admirable - there's
real substance here" - soundsxp.com
"the four bring together hip hop elements, interwoven with jazz
and break beat rhythms creating an ever changing tapestry of sound.
within minutes of starting iodo have created a mood that trance like has
captured each and every listener." - thisisull.com
"equal parts challenging as it was fast, fun and dynamic in
the extreme." - leedsmusicscene.net
